On 1st of June 2016 TUM Cairo -the liaison office of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) – organized a TUM Alumni event under the title: “Reaching for the Stars - Space, Science and Experiments”.

The event, which took place at the German Science Centre (DWZ), consisted of talk with TUM PhD and astronaut candidate Eng. Akram Abdel Latif that was moderated by TUM Alumnus Prof. Dr. Abdel Meguid Kassem/Cairo University.


On May 27, the German Science Centre (DWZ) invited for the fourth time Egyptian and German university presidents and vice-presidents to attend the Egyptian-German Executive Meeting to discuss the topic “Integrated Mobility – Challenges of International Academic Exchange”.


Ali Choucry is a participant of the Falling Walls Lab Cairo event, which takes place once every year. The event supports young people and gives them a platform for innovations and inventions which are then presented to an audience in a timeframe of 3 minutes. Afterwards winners from all over the world have the chance to present their ideas to an international evaluation team in Berlin and make contacts with specialists in their respective topics. Hence a success story may blossom.


On Saturday the 28th of May, the Campus of the German Science Centre (DWZ) opened its doors to outstanding PhD and Post-Doctoral candidates to meet representatives of German universities.


Egyptian and international academics and entrepreneurs on all levels are invited to apply for the Falling Walls Lab Cairo on 20th July 2016 to showcase their most innovative ideas in three minutes. Applications are due by 30th June 2016.


From November 21st till 26th 2015, a workshop for energy efficiency in desalination took place at the Technische Universität Berlin Campus El Gouna. The DAAD funded event presented the state of the art in research and technology by collecting the results and experienced requirements from Egypt, Jordan, Tunisia and Germany. The series of lectures showed that the combination of desalination and renewable energies already works on smaller scales.


On the 26th of May, the German Science Centre (DWZ) will take part in the eLearning Africa conference, the key networking event for ICT enhanced development, education and training in Africa. The event will take place over the course of three days starting on May 24th. From 16:15-17:15, the DWZ will organise a session about the technical solutions available to conceptualise, facilitate and implement e-learning formats.


On the 27th of May, the German Science Centre invites Egyptian and German university presidents and vice-presidents to attend its yearly Executive Meeting. The Executive Meeting provides a unique platform for mutual exchange of ideas and experiences and allows the intensification of networks and the identification of potential fields of future cooperation.


The German University in Cairo’s (GUC) entrepreneurship program “IMAGINE”, which is part of the DAAD-funded cooperation project “Developing Entrepreneurial and Management Skills among University Students” between GUC and Philipps-Universität Marburg (Germany) was awarded the second place in the “Innovative Youth Incubator Award” competing with more than 40 incubators from all over the world.


The German Egyptian Research Short term Scholarship GERSS is a program jointly funded by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) and the German Academic Exchange Service, Bonn (DAAD) in order to finance short term scholarships for young Egyptian scientists in Germany. The target group of the program are researchers enrolled in MSc, PhD programs and young Post-Doctoral candidates. The scholarships may be awarded for a period from three to six months.


Together with "100 Best Arabic Posters Initative", the DWZ is proudly offering a poster design workshop, and conducted by one of the major influential European poster designers, Prof. Bernard Stein. Prof. Stein will provide young academics in the field of applied arts with a once in a lifetime experience, that will sharpen and widen your sense of Poster Design and Graphic Design in general. The Results of the workshop will be displayed in a two day exhibition in the heart of Downtown, Cairo.


The German Science Centre in Cairo (DWZ) has officially released its new edition of the Egyptian-German Science Monitor, which aims to gain a better knowledge of research trends in Egypt and Germany.


The Technical University of Munich (TUM) Cairo Office organized on 28 February 2016 a workshop under the title “Opportunities and Prospects of Afforestation in Egypt and its Role in the New Reclamation Project of One and Half million acres”. The workshop has been funded by the German Science Centre in Cairo (DWZ), ForestFinance Service GmbH (ForestFinance) and Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).


A considerable progress has been made towards collaboration between the TU Berlin and the Deutsche Schule der Borromaeerinnen (DSB) in Cairo.

The Campus’ biggest hall, Audimax, was filled with proud relatives, friends, professors and teaching supervisors, who on Saturday February 6, attended the graduation ceremony of the TUB Campus El Gouna's second Master's class.
